Father’s Day: Messages in English

Father’s Day: Messages in English

Lydia Maria Child once said, “Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father.”

Fathers play an integral role in a child’s development. They support and encourage their children to fulfill their dreams. Kids look up to their dads as role models in order to provide them with guidance.

The history of Father’s Day

To honor fathers, millions of people celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday in June. All around the world, families gather to observe different traditions. Usually, dads host parties, go to baseball games, go fishing, or play golf together with friends to relax on their special day.

Father’s Day began when several women petitioned for a holiday dedicated to dads. Originally, Father’s Day was rejected by the public, as they assumed it would be similar to Mother’s Day where fathers would receive flowers, which they did not want. Additionally, some people believed Father’s Day would take away from Mother’s Day, as they felt mothers were more underappreciated. Ultimately, in 1972, President Richard Nixon decided to declare Father’s Day a national holiday. The rest is history!

Messages for dad

As you are gathered around the barbeque, be sure to acknowledge everything your father does for you by sharing some kind words. Whether you write them down in a personalized card or express them directly to your dad, he will cherish every word you say.

  1. You are my hero.
  2. I will always look up to you. You are the best role model.
  3. You rock!
  4. I am proud to be your child.
  5. You are the glue that holds our family together.
  6. I am so grateful for everything you do.
  7. You are the best dad I could ask for.
  8. We have created many great memories together.
  9. I am lucky to have you in my life.
  10. How can I ever thank you for all that you’ve done for our family?
  11. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without your support.
  12. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad.
  13. I don’t tell you enough how much I love you.
  14. Thank you for giving me a great childhood.
  15. Words cannot express how much you mean to me.

Dad jokes

A dad joke is a short, corny joke that is often a pun told by fathers. A Father’s Day card wouldn’t be complete without including a good one!

  1. When does a dad become a dad joke?

When he becomes apparent

  1. Why do sons love Father’s Day so much?

Because it’s always on son day

  1. Why aren’t there any Father’s Day sales?

Because Fathers are priceless

These are just some of the many phrases you can write to express your love for your dad on Father’s Day. No matter what you choose to tell him with a card or a hug, a thoughtful gesture will let your father know how much he is appreciated.
