Mother's Day: Messages in English
Every year, on the second Sunday of May, millions of people around the world gather to celebrate their mother’s. On this special day, we show how grateful we are for all of the hard work our moms do and shower them with love.
Mother’s Day can be traced all the way back to ancient Greece where Rhea and Cybele, two motherly goddesses, were honored for their kind-heartedness and maternal love. It became a more commercialized celebration in 1908 in the United States when Anna Jarvis wanted to commemorate her own mother. A few years later, it became a national holiday, and quickly spread across the globe. Now mothers all over the world are acknowledged for their selflessness and unconditional love.
If you are not close with your biological mother, you can still participate in the festivities, as Mother’s Day is about demonstrating our gratitude to any of the maternal figures in our lives, including grandmothers, sisters, and friends. Some families give their moms cards and gifts while others go out to a special restaurant to show their appreciation. Each family has their own way of celebrating their amazing mothers!
So, this Mother’s Day, don’t forget to pick up some flowers and chocolates ahead of time. Writing your mom a heartfelt card will surely show our appreciation. Thank your mother for everything she does for you with an endearing message like the ones below.
Mamá, mom, mommy, whichever name you call your mother, be sure to express how much you love her this year. You can personalize your card by adding specific examples of positive memories you have shared with her. She will enjoy reading about your gratitude for her and being recognized for all of her support.
Have a happy Mother’s Day!
